Leaving WhatsApp for Signal
Facebook owned WhatsApp, an instant messaging app, is changing it's policy to require users share their private information with Facebook. Why? That remains unclear, but you can be quite sure it's tied to their advertising algorithms. Nothing really to stop them reading your "encrypted" messages and using that for reasons we will never know.
Personally, this is one step too far. I, and many other's, are moving to different platforms. My choice is Signal as being more secure. There are some obscure cases where it's not yet perfect, but is certainly more private than WhatsApp.
If you'd like to educate yourself some more, and I would recommend you do, these videos will help. They can be technical, but it's a technical topic and you will get the gist of it. The first gives you a breakdown of what's required for a good instant messaging app and the second explains relationship mapping.
