David after a snow fight

Here starteth day 2.

Breakfast at 8.30 a.m. Norwegian style. It's very similar to a smorgasbord. had my first look at Sky Channel whilst eating breakfast. There was a show very similar to the Thunderbirds but a lot worse.

We then started driving and singing. At about 10 a.m. we arrived at Oslo, Norway's capital city. Up until this time it had been foggy but after we had gone through a tunnel (of which Norway has quite a few) we emerged to glorious sunshine.

Norway is a lot hillier than Denmark. All the way to the mountain was snow and ice. Where the snow had melted and then re-froze there were stalactites icicles of blue ice. Looked really cool. Pun intended.

Lunch was at one of those places that know you have to eat there and so raise the prices. $8.70 for two sausages and a pile of chips. That was the cheapest.

The arrival. We arrived at about 4 o'clock. Too late to go skiing. After attempting to unpack (there was no room in the room). Pun intended again. Flemming and Theis went to the ski centre to hire some skis. Karen and I followed about ten minutes later. We had great fun running and sliding around on the ice. I wrote Australia by the side of the road in big letters so everybody could see it.

Tea wasn't much and the evening's entertainment was also pretty boring. Even for those who could understand it. Each night a group had to provide entertainment.

Reflections

Reflections about this day made on July 27, 2007.

  • For the record my writing of Australia in big letters was in the snow with a stick and the colour was not yellow!
