Day #5 of our Scotland tour — from Fort William to Plockton. Neptune's staircase is a series of 7 locks (not lochs) just outside Fort William which raised boats into the Calendonian canal. What was most interesting was the way the road and rail bridges swung out of the way first. After the staircase we took the chairlift half way up Aonach Mor with the aim of seeing Ben Nevis (Scotland's highest Ben). The view would have been impressive except for the rain and fog. Not to be beaten Wendy decided on a close up by plunging face first into the path. Blood nose, a bitten lip and black knees couldn't even be cured by a mint slice in the cafe. First sighting of the "moose in the hoose" tea-shirt. Drove to Eileen Donan Castle which was the sight of many important things including the movie Highlander. Sighted moresp; Sighted more heilan' coos in a small village that didn't have any people. Either the coos had eaten them or there was a big fancy dress party. Had the best meal we have had in the UK at the Plockton Hotel.
